Prospecting…It is all about being in the right shoes

Prospecting

Prospecting by having a prospect come to you and say they would like to work with you in your network marketing business is like finding the diamond in the rough.

Coming by them is extremely rare and if one does come knocking you’d better be ready.

Reality is, most distributors would have their eyes glaze over and immediately burst into sales mode repeating every word of information they knew about their company. They’d blast the prospect so full of useless, best business in the world bull-shit that they’d lose that prospect before they knew what hit’em, they would literally kick the prospect away with a big ass boot.

Repeating this process several times and having no one join their business will result in them either packing up and quitting the business or starting to blame the company and the products or industry for their lack of success.

Wrong way to do it!

It is a well known fact that people don’t like to be hit with the hard sell. So why then do most people keep on doing it? One reason I can see is that they are just so happy to have someone who is open to looking at their opportunity they go a little crazy and that takes over. But seriously, they are just so excited and they don’t want to lose this one.

Unfortunately, they do lose them, over and over, they lose’em.

The Key ingredient to successful Prospecting

Prospecting is all about being in the right shoes…what I mean is your prospect only cares about “what is in it for me?”

While you’re busy selling them on all the facts that you really didn’t care about they are thinking about themselves and their problems. What can this do for me and my problems…what problems of mine can this solve?

Put yourself in the prospects shoes.

You need to become a mentor right from the beginning, position yourself as someone who is a coach and helps people get what they want.

You know the term under promise and over deliver? You hear it a lot when dealing with customer service; well it applies to MLM too.

The following five principles will give you the opportunity to develop that all important relationship and trust with the new prospect. Just watch your results improve as you implement the principles into your life and business.

Remember it is all about the relationship and earning the respect of the prospect rather than “hammering them into an opportunity they really don’t want to be a part of.

1. Be the person the prospect is looking for. You are a direct reflection of the company/ industry you represent.

2. Be yourself. Stay away from the script and canned approach that is the same for everyone you meet. Your prospect is not stupid and they know the difference between a genuine, from the heart approach and a pre-scripted presentation read word for word.

3. Learn to be a mentor right from the very beginning. Yes, from the moment the introductions are over. Help your prospects get everything they want. Be a solution to their problems, not a problem. The term over-deliver should be ingrained in your mind. Start training your prospect with helpful tips and information immediately. Simply be as helpful as you can.

4. Become an irresistible magnet to your MLM prospect. You earn respect, not demand it and once your prospect likes dealing with you your chances of signing them into your business will increase significantly.

5. “Success is something you attract by the person you become.” Jim Rohn. The more you improve you as a person and network marketing professional the more you’ll attract success. As you improve so will the quality of people who you attract to you and who join you in business. You will never sponsor anyone better then you so you had better work on being great, that way you’ll have a great business.

As you follow those five principles your business will begin to grow. You’ll begin to see people interested in what you are doing. They will respect you and want to be part of the success you have. You’ll help grow leadership and change peoples lives in the process.
You will become successful and successful people attract other successful people. That will explode your business.
